You should wait until your breasts refill

You may be advised to wait until your breasts refill after each feed to make sure your breasts have sufficient milk supply.

But in fact our bodies are so much more efficient than a simple factory.

Let’s start with the fact that babies never really completely drain breasts. Research has shown that the amount of milk removed from the breast varies from feed to feed, but averages around 75-80% of the available milk.

More importantly your body automatically adjusts to demand. As soon as your baby starts nursing your breasts will speed up milk making process to meet the demand.

So, on the contrary, to protect your milk supply, instead of waiting for your breasts to fill up, let your baby lead the way.
