If you’re nursing frequently or for longer than couple of minutes you may have been warned to not let your baby use you as a pacifier. Or in other words, continue to suck for a long time. You may have also been advised to not nurse “on a whim”.
But in fact breastfed babies usually feed frequently and that’s actually good for them. Studies suggest that most breastfeed babies feed around 11 – 12 feeds per 24 hours.
